Coonamble High School is pleased to have students from our school involved in the Coonamble Shire Youth Council. It is an important community partnership allowing our young people to give their opinions and ideas on things that effect young people in the shire.
Coonamble Shire Youth Council Objectives:
- To voice the opinions and concerns of young people to the Coonamble Council and the wider community;
- To assist Coonamble Shire Council in developing policy and programs relating to youth;
- To foster a better understanding between young people and local government;
- To advise and work with council to organise local Youth Week celebrations and other activites to meet the needs of Coonamble Youth;
- To encourage debatediscussion on matters affecting young people to help them form opinions;
- To create an active interest amongst young people in the Coonamble Shire, especially where this involves young people searching for ways to improve community life and amenity;
- To create and foster a sense of community and to advance the needs of young people in the Coonamble Shire;
- To be a coordinationg body who shall call upon and involve other people/organisations and agencies to plan and implement community activities;
- To carry out its activities in accordance with Coonamble Shire Councils Community Services Policy and the conditions of any funding body providing a grant;
- To represent the youth of Coonamble at Local, State and National Youth Forums where appropriate.
