Since 2020, we have been working with ATSIMA to create culturally relevant lessons in our mathematics classes across the school. Our school team consists of:
Over the past few years we have seen an increase in the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait histories and culture within our maths classes. This project has also created an environment where staff are continully collaborating and supporting each other to improve their teaching and learning.
At the end of 2021, our maths students were learning about geometry, surface area and 3D shapes. During these topics students created Christmas cards, gift boxes and wrapped presents for the local long term hospital patients and the residents at Koonambil Aged Care.
